I started working with Mike coming out of the pandemic when I was afraid to go to the gym and had eaten more than my share to cope with my fear of the virus.  I am fighting sarcopenia and osteopenia by strength training. 

AFTER:

128 lbs + 18.5% BF

Mike has helped me with nutrition, workouts that are never boring, assessments for mobility and proper movement, balance, motivation, overall health, and the “mental game” for my new hobby – powerlifting.  He has a cool garage gym and he heats up the barbell for me in the winter!  He works very well with every age – 8-99.  He’s worth the drive from wherever you are or he will do virtual sessions.  It’s never too late to get strong and improve your balance.

After one year I am in the best shape of my life. I feel and look great. I lost over 15 lbs and reduced my body fat to 12% with 90% muscle mass.

I started working with Mike in 2016.  I was a typical healthy 30 year woman who enjoyed running 3 to 4 times a week.  Now I am a strong 44 year old woman who lifts some heavy ass weight and believes “If it doesn’t CHALLENGE you, it won’t CHANGE you!”

Mike is the reason for this transformation.  He has many superpowers but his ultimate power is his passion to coach/ motivate.  Mike creates workouts that are designed specifically to your  goals that pushes you to achieve BIG!

During the past eight years, there have been peaks and valleys, as well as road blocks, a few detours. However,  Mike was always committed!  He was there to push, cheer me on,  and give me the reality check when needed.

I’ve been working with Mike off and on for 5 years through two pregnancies and major changes in my body and schedule.  Though my goals before versus after kids have changed, Mike continues to find the prior athlete in me and shows how my capabilities are beyond my own belief.  Before personal training I had zero knowledge on correct form. 

AFTER:

Mike has consistently broken every movement down to make sure I get the best results out of my workouts.  Exercise can be so much more than breaking a sweat.  Mike helps find the individual motivator for each person and gives you all the tools to be successful.  I no longer worry about chasing kids around and enjoy pushing the limits of what I can do with Mike’s support.

I weight lifted on my own for 7+ years but had hit a plateau in my strength numbers, not making any further progress. After working with Mike for a year, I burst through that plateau and hit personal bests in all 3 of the big lifts.

Mike is an excellent trainer!  He started working with my 14-year-old son on his goal of increasing his muscle mass by 10% and being active.  

Mike helped him reach his goal in just over one year.

With the results we saw with my son, I decided to enlist Mike’s help to work on some of my personal fitness goals.  

It was clear that Mike had the ability to dialogue and tailor the workouts to his audience.  He was able to listen to what I wanted and fit the workouts into my busy lifestyle at home.

He challenged me to try new things with the equipment I had and designed my routines using an exercise app.  

I found that I could understand what to do, commit to it three times a week, and know I was working all my major muscle groups!

SURVIVING:

I have always had a coach. I played collegiate soccer and have had a coach for as long as I can remember.

Following babies, I found myself at the gym, but with really no idea what to do. Then I met Mike.

Mike re-awakened the athlete inside me. I hadn't seen her for awhile. He trained me for a few years before we moved back to Oregon.

I did really well for a few years following his plans and maintaining my weight loss. Then I went back to school and the workouts slowed, and then stopped. Immediately, I knew I needed to reengage Mike Knox, virtually.

In 2012, I suffered a slipped lumbar disc and a hip injury from running.  I had always been active and physically fit enough to challenge and push my limits, so being sedentary wasn’t a long term option. With running no longer an option, I sought a change. After ruling out high-risk exercises, I was looking for someone I trusted to train me.

Early 2019, Mike and I worked on goals. One goal was to compete in a weightlifting competition before I turned 40 and to significantly improve my technique and form. The biggest change from working with Mike to now is I am moving much heavier weight and not suffering setbacks from poor form.
